Vince Lombardi on Network Marketing

by admin on February 1, 2010

The famous words “Gentlemen, this is a football” by Vince Lombardi could not ring truer for the current status of the network marketing industry. There is a scary trend taking place right now. Somehow we’ve lost sight of what network marketing really is and it’s killing the industry.

We can’t blame the internet entirely but all the overnight rags to riches stories are not helping.

We can’t blame McDonalds entirely although the fast food mentality is contributing as well.

What am I referring to? I’m talking about how network marketing has been twisted, abused and misused primarily because of how powerful it is.

We have MLM companies popping up that look first for a good MLM software provider and second for a good product to market.

We have MLM compensation plans that are very obviously illegal yet nobody seems to notice as long as the checks get cut on time and they clear the bank.

We have MLM distributors spamming the internet with “how to” eBooks on network marketing success… yet they’ve never earned a dime and the only advice in the eBook is how to sell more eBooks.

I could run the list much longer but you should get the point by now. Bottom line is that greed, impatience and ignorance are running rampant and unfortunately the network marketing industry is the perfect host.

“Gentlemen, this is network marketing”

Network marketing is about bringing a product or service of real value to the marketplace through the power of person to person marketing.

Stop staring at your computer looking for the secret to success. If you don’t have a product or service with enough value to succeed in the “real world”, it isn’t going to work online either.

If you hear the words “gifting” or “pledging” as it relates to you forking over cash… don’t walk away, RUN AWAY! Pyramid is a pyramid is a pyramid.

Quit getting sucked into the 10k in 30 days claims; you knew they couldn’t be true in the first place. Find a company and product you’re passionate about then drive your stake in the ground and get to work.

I am extremely proud to be in the network marketing industry. As a means of taking a product or service to the market, there is no better way. The only reason that pyramids scams, ponzi schemes and other scams are still around is because there are just enough people that fall prey to keep it going.

Let’s you and I be a part of the solution. Find a legitimate network marketing opportunity, seek out good mentors and learn to become a network marketing professional so that others can experience all that this great industry has to offer.
